Description:
Kodi is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub that can be installed on ASUSTOR NAS models with HDMI, featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls. It allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the internet.
Note:
[Known issue]: The fast forward and backward button on the AiRemote or Remote controller cannot work while playing videos on Kodi.

Doesn’t show under ADM 5.1.0.RMM1
Could you explain more about the issue? I don’t understand what the issue you mention here. Where did Kodi should show on the ADM?
ADM desktop or ASUSTOR Portal?
Nevermind, the nas rebooted (on its own) and Kodi showed up on ADM user interface screen/ All good.
Hi Patrick.
First of all, thank you for your amazing work.
Since I updated to AMD 5 and Kodi 20.5, the option to make steps (forward or back, small and big) on fullscreen isn’t working.
Could this be some kind of incompatibility or is it my mistake? I haven’t been able to fix it yet.
Any idea?
Thanks!!
Hello,
If possible, please help to add a screenshot to show detailed. BTW, did you mean that you cannot control the video playback to forward or backward via the “Mouse” connected on the NAS or controlled by AiRemote mobile Apps?
Hi Patrick,
thanks for your time!
If I try this action (in fullscreen, forward or backward the video playback) through the AiRemote mobile app or the official remote controller from Asustor (AS-RC13) nothing happens. The screenshot would not provide any information because nothing happens.
Via a keyboard connected on the NAS it works correctly.
For now, hasn’t worked the reinstall of all applications involved also the ADM OS, the attempt to create a new keymap neither to include a “advancedsettings.xml” archive with the steps fixed.
Would be an incompatibility with Remote Center App?
Thanks!!
Hi Marc,
This is an known issue on Kodi 20.5, I will check further with ASUSTOR team how to resolve it.
Hello,
It was mainly because of Kodi that I bought an Asustor AS6302T with an HDMI port.
And without Patrick’s work, the Asustor would already be in the bin!
Kodi 20.5 and ADM 5.1.0.RN42
Hello,
A big THANK YOU to Patrick, Kodi 20.5/ADM 5.1.0.RN42 works perfectly with the Asustor AS6302T.
Here is how I achieved this result.
1 Uninstall the old Kodi
2 Update the applications
3 Update the ADM
4 Restart the Asustor
5 Update the applications
6 Install Kodi
Applications installed with their versions: The latest applications to date!
6 I find Kodi in ‘Asustor Portal’ (if not, restart and wait a moment).
7 I launch Kodi, which offers me an update to Kodi 21, which I do not do.
Regarding some comments that the fast forward and rewind buttons on the ‘AiRemote’ Android phone or remote control do not work when playing videos on Kodi:
For me, it works very well from 2x to 32x.
In the menu bar that appears during playback, I can use ‘AiRemote’, which is not very practical, and an old ‘Harmony 650’ universal remote control, but I don’t have an Asutor remote control to test.
I have an old Samsung television that supports a maximum resolution of 1920×1080@60, and I have set the resolution in ‘Asustor Portal’ to: std 1920×1080@60. Do not leave it on ‘Auto’.
Then, in Kodi, when a video is paused, use the star button at the bottom right to set Settings/Video/Video Calibration.
The biggest problems I encountered were audio and video freezing after a few seconds and restarting (and so on), and I spent my entire Saturday and a few mulled wines on it.
The video freezing: incorrect resolution setting in ‘Asustor Portal’ or faulty HDMI port (this was quickly resolved).
In ‘Passthrough’ mode, SPDIF works very well with my amplifier.
But the biggest problem was with HDMI, where I had no audio despite ‘Passthrough’ being disabled. I took the following steps:
I changed the HDMI port (I used HDMI2) until I got audio on Kodi: Default (HDA Inter PCH Samsung), but I made sure not to select HDA Intel PCH, HDMI #2. Then I restarted a few times!
It took me all day, and it was definitely the mulled wine’s fault 😮 😀
I watch a lot of German and French television programmes recorded on PVR in different audio formats, and if by chance there is no audio, all you have to do is press the star button at the bottom right of the video and adjust Settings/Audio/Audio Stream.
PS: There is an hour missing from the winter schedule because ‘Country time zone’ is not enabled in Kodi. Does Patrick have a solution ❗
This is a French/English translation, and I apologise if not everything is understandable.
Otherwise, it’s great!
Happy holidays and have fun with Patrick’s Kodi 20.5
Jean
I’m new here and trying to get my bearings. I would like to request a complete list of apps and add-ons that need to be installed before installing Kodi 20.5. Thanks for the reply.
Hello,
Kodi is only for ASUSTOR NAS x86-64 models with HDMI output, please be sure the ASUSTOR NAS models you have first.
And then you can install ASUSTOR Portal from App Central, it should install other dependency apps as well. After the installation, please be sure that you can see the ASUSTOR Portal screen on your monitor or TV connected to the NAS.
You can refer to ASUSTOR College 135 for details.

Hi there friends, nice post and nice urging commented here, I am truly enjoying
by these.
Thank you for the information. I have a model that is equipped with HDMI.
Hi,
I just updated from 18.9 to 20.5 with your installer, and works as a charm on Nimbustor2 nas.
Are there any newer updates for Kodi 21.x? If so, where can I find the x86-64.apk installer?
Thank you so much, I’ve been wanting to update Kodi for years!
Hello,
Kodi was scheduled to upgrade to 21, but it still failed to work with ADM 5.0’s libraries and Xorg, so I can only use 20.5 on ADM 5.0 now.
It seems that the Kernel or Xorg needs to be upgraded before Kodi 21 can be used.
Hi Patrik, does Kodi for Asustor support MariaDB connection? It won’t create tables for me. Firewall is off, file access for root. Can you tell me what to try? When I make a db via windows kodi, it still won’t connect to the db… Thanks

Kodi is the app on the ASUSTOR Portal, it don’t need to connect to a database.
The media library can be added from the local shared folder of the NAS.
Patrick,
avant toute chose merci et bravo pour le job que tu fais si kodi.
ma question est : as-tu une date pour la version 21?
par avance merci de ton retour.
will asustor ADM Version: 5.1 work with your KODI version? I now have your version running on 5.0 but they want me to update to 5.1. Please let me know. Thank for all your support!
Hi Patrick. I am sorry I forgot the full AMD version that Asustor wants me to upgrade to. It is version 5.1.3.R181. I would like to update but I will not if I am going to lose Kodi. If you could please let me know if Kodi will work with this version? Thank you for all your help. Ray
